The Liberation Procedure

I try not to allow these "Bits" to be overly controversial. I want to be informative, helpful, inspiring, and a "bit" funny.

But as I sit here, reading how the radiologist who performed the "liberation" procedure in a Vancouver hospital is now in hot water, I can't help but think...

Professionals who perform the Liberation procedure are "Assisting Living"... not "Assisting Suicide".

So why is the Liberation Procedure illegal in Canada?

"Liberation" is sought because it increases the quality of life of a person living with MS.

Temporary or permanent, we do not know, but to be able to live outside of the "fog", outside of the "fatigue", to feel your limbs, or potentially walk unassisted for even a short amount of time is within our reach...and would be a dream come true.

*20 of the 93 "suicides" engineered by Dr. Kevorkian were people living with Multiple Sclerosis

That doctor should be censured. There is a reason why the liberation procedure isn't an approved procedure in Canada...

that's because it's unproven, the risks aren't known, and the doctor who did it hasn't been trained to do it.

If that patient had had a stroke I hope that he would've lost his licence forever.

Any surgery has "risk". If a person agrees to the procedure and signs their "waiver", why would you be angry at the radiologist? Do you know what kind of "risks" MS sufferers take every day by injecting themselves with disease modifying drugs?? In Kuwait every MS sufferer is being offered this treatment, covered by their own government. If someone has a bloodflow problem, why shouldn't it be fixed? We know how the blood is supposed to flow through the human body. The real concern should be what are the risks of not having proper bloodflow? WHy not at least test for it?

Little bits about my life with MS
